Welcome to the Interculture Wiki

IntercultureWiki is a wiki for and about intercultural exchanges between classes of language (and other) students in geographically distant locations.

The IntercultureWiki project started in 2006 with an exchange between students at the University of Padova, Italy and students at Tulane University, USA hence the name and site of the original wiki tulanepadova.pbwiki.com. Since then the tulanepadova wiki has been used to host exchanges from students at the University of Padova and students at Dickinson College, USA, University of Albany, USA and Sabanci University, Turkey. As of summer, 2008, the IntercultureWiki wiki and projects will be hosted on this new wiki dedicated to intercultural exchanges.

This wiki can be used as:

  • a resource for teachers interested in seeing how a wiki can be used for intercultural exchanges;
  • a resource for classes interested in the contents and products of intercultural exchanges;
  • a platform for intercultural exchanges;
  • a platform for the creation of wiki pages on intercultural issues.

The hope is that the wiki will continue to grow both in the number of exchanges hosted and the contents produced by students as intercultural resources for other students. The aim of using a public wiki is to share ideas: rather than each exchange taking place behind closed doors with students producing contents that could be useful for other students and teachers developing tasks and models that could be useful for their peers, all of this can be available to everyone.

The wiki is readable to the public but only editable via password. If you would like to contribute, and you are, of course, welcome to, please send an email to the administrator, Sarah Guth.
